Levelland Festival of Lights and Christmas on the Square

Levelland Main Street and the Marigolds of Levelland, for the first time ever, partnered with South Plains College (SPC) to combine their Christmas Tree Lighting event and our Christmas on the Square event!  Levelland Festival of Lights & Christmas on the Square took place on Thursday, November 30, 2017.

The event began at the SPC entrance where their lighted trees are displayed. They served hot coco and the SPC Symphonic Band played Christmas music before the ceremonial "flip of the switch" by the SPC President to turn on all the campus Christmas lights!  The Lighted Parade route was a little over a mile long and twenty-one floats traveled from SPC to the Square; the first parade in Levelland's history to travel on College Avenue! Santa Claus arrived at the gazebo after to parade and school choirs sang on the Courthouse lawn while families waited to see Santa.

There were two prizes for parade entries and the winners are:

Best of Show - Cactus Drive Church of Christ, received the coveted Traveling Trophy and bragging rights for a year!

Best Student Organization - Whiteface 2nd Grade Class, received $500 donated by South Plains College!

Stay tuned for details about 2018 activities and how you can enter your very own float for a chance to win a great prize!
